“A Message from our President” … … …

Om Namo Narayanaya.
Welcome to Dakshinamurthy Math, a humble sacred place in the holy embrace of Puri Jagannath Dham.
Our mission is rooted in the timeless wisdom of the Dasanami Sampradaya—to realize the Truth within and serve the Divinity around us. For over two decades, through Aum Prakashan Mandir, we have strived to bring the light of scriptures (Shastras) to the common man. We believe that knowledge is not meant to be locked in ancient libraries but lived in daily life.
Today, as we expand our activities—from teaching the Gita to thousands of students, to feeding the hungry at our Annakshetra—we remain committed to the ideal of “Atmano Mokshartham Jagat Hitaya Cha” (For the salvation of the self and the welfare of the world).
I invite you to join this divine yajna. Whether you are a reader, a devotee, or a donor, you are an integral part of our spiritual family.

In Service of the Lord,

ALL ABOUT Us

What We Believe

Mahāvākya (Sanskrit)

Prajñānam Brahmaप्रज्ञानं ब्रह्म Aitareya Upanishad (Rigveda)Consciousness is Brahman (The essence of the ultimate reality is pure consciousness.)

Mandukya Upanishad (Atharvaveda)This Self (Ātman) is Brahman (The individual self is identical to the ultimate reality.)

Chandogya Upanishad (Samaveda)That Thou Art (That (Brahman) is you (the individual self).)

Aham Brahmāsmiअहम् ब्रह्मास्मिBrihadaranyaka Upanishad (Yajurveda)I am Brahman (I am the ultimate reality.)

The Mahāvākyas are considered the most direct and potent expressions of non-duality (Advaita). They are used as subjects for deep meditation and contemplation to realize the fundamental truth that the individual soul (Jīva) is not separate from the Absolute Reality (Brahman).

“Among sciences, I am the science of the Self.”

The phrase highlights the supreme importance of spiritual knowledge within the Hindu tradition.

१. Adhyātma (अध्यात्म)
Adhi (over, concerning) + Ātman (Self, soul).
It refers to the knowledge pertaining to the inner Self. It is the study of the Ātman, its nature, its origin, and its relationship with the ultimate reality (Brahman).

२. Vidyā (विद्या)
Knowledge or Science.

३. The Supreme Knowledge
By declaring this, Krishna is essentially saying that while various forms of knowledge (arts, physics, mathematics, philosophy, etc.) are valuable, the most fundamental and vital knowledge is the realization of one’s own true nature (the Self).
The core of this teaching is that knowing the Self leads to the knowledge of all things, because the Self (Ātman) is identical to the universal reality (Brahman), as expressed in the Mahāvākya: “Aham Brahmāsmi” (I am Brahman).

This Mahāvākya (Great Saying), often found in conjunction with the explanation of its meaning, is considered a key principle in Vedanta philosophy.

“All this, indeed, is Brahman.” (Verily, the whole world is Brahman.) Chandogya Upanishad (Chapter 3, Section 14, Verse 1)

This statement is a profound declaration of monism (the doctrine that reality is ultimately one).
No Separation: It asserts that there is no thing, no object, no being in the entire manifest universe that is separate from Brahman (the infinite, unchanging reality).
The Material World as Divine: It elevates the status of the material world. The universe (Jagat) is not an illusion in the sense of being non-existent, but rather, its perceived separate identity is the illusion. Its underlying reality, its substance, is Brahman.
Basis for Contemplation: The verse immediately following this in the Chandogya Upanishad encourages the seeker to meditate on this truth, understanding that the individual self (Ātman) is fundamentally the same as this all-encompassing Brahman.
Essentially, it means that the diversity we perceive is merely a superficial appearance; the underlying, unifying reality is the one, eternal Brahman.
